Healthy carb snacks are no longer a must-have staple, but there are some healthy alternatives to stick to in 2018.
According to data from market research firm Market Insights, consumers will now spend an average of 1.45 per cent more on a healthy snack per year.
They are expected to spend more on snacks, snacks that contain at least 80 per cent carbohydrates, in 2019.
That’s a huge jump from 2017, when the average snack spent per consumer was around 1.5 per cent higher per year, Market Insight said.
Here are the top five foods to avoid this year, based on the market research:Chocolate milk chocolate milkshakeChocolate milkshakes are now on the menu in many places, including restaurants, bars and convenience stores.
They typically contain a mixture of cocoa powder and chocolate milk, which gives them a rich, smooth texture.
A big downside to chocolate milk is that it’s not particularly nutritious.
The recommended daily allowance is between 1.1 to 1.3 grams of protein, 1.2 to 1,2 grams of carbohydrate and 0.6 to 0.8 grams of fat.
But in 2018, this number jumped to 1 gram, which is nearly 10 per cent over the amount we typically eat.
The most popular chocolate milk option, however, is chocolate chip ice cream.
If you’re not sure which brands to try, the market researcher says to look for a “natural” flavor, which typically has less sugar and less fat than the brands we see on the shelf.
Chocolate Chip Ice CreamChocolate chip ice creams are popular, but they are not as well-known as other healthy snacks.

Chocolate chip ice is actually a chocolate-covered sugar cookie, not a sweetened version of regular ice cream, according to Market Insists.
Instead of sugar, it contains chocolate chips.

If you’re eating a bowl of icecream, for example, you’ll need just over two tablespoons of chocolate.
If you want to enjoy chocolate ice cream for more than a few minutes, the next best thing is to pour the chocolate into a mug and fill it with ice cream sauce.
It’s possible to combine chocolate chips and chocolate sauce together, but that doesn’t usually work as well.
For the most part, ice cream made with chocolate chips, however will still taste like regular icecream.

In 2017, there were almost 1.9 billion ice cream shops in the country, and they’re the second most popular snack option behind ice cream with chips, according the market analysis firm MarketInsights.
Chunk ice cream consists of two parts: a scoop or bowl, and a chocolate bar.
In 2018, a scoop was worth $3 per scoop and a bar was worth more than $4.
While these aren’t particularly expensive, they’re still a bit pricey.
The average scoop and bar cost consumers about $1.75, while a regular ice-cream bar cost about $2.50.
A typical scoop weighs around 1-2 grams, while the average bar weighs between 4-6 grams.
The market research company says you can easily replace a scoop and ice cream bar, if you find one that has more ice cream flavor than the rest.
